Every year Living Waters Europe offers conferences in the local church context, in Europe. These conferences are usually from two to four days in duration and include worship, general sessions with ministry times, testimonies, and workshops covering relevant topics. Some of the titles of our conferences are "Pursuing Relational Wholeness," "The Compassion That Heals," and "Hope and Integrity." Conferences are usually led by at least one Living Waters Europe staff member and often include ministry leaders from other countries. Our conferences always include men and women in teaching and leadership positions.
A primary goal of our conferences is to impart healing to the local community; to introduce people to the transforming power of Jesus Christ to heal sexual and relational brokenness. We will also often host a pastor's luncheon for pastors local to the conference site to have an opportunity to dialogue with Desert Stream staff people about introducing this type of ministry into their church communities.
If you would like more information about hosting a Living Waters conference in your church, please contact the national Living Waters leader or email Living Waters Europe at: lweurope@online.be
Training
Living Waters is the basis of all our other programs so training for all programs will follow the Living Waters training format with specialized, program-specific sessions during the week. Trainings offered in the United States will include training for the other programs. Trainings offered in other countries may or may not include training for other programs. We will also provide training for these programs (for leaders who have been through a training or will be working with someone who has been trained) at our Living Waters Leadership Conference offered every other year in Anaheim, CA.
Priority will be given to teams of two or more people attending together, with the intention of serving together. This includes those who are already implementing a program back home, or those who are planning to start after the seminar. With the exception of CrossCurrent, these programs are a large effort that can rarely be accomplished by one leader alone, that is why we urge people to attend with at least one other with whom they will be leading the group.
What will be taught?
The Living Waters Leadership Training includes: Becoming familiar with the Living Waters program and its 20 lessons found in the Living Waters - Pursuing Sexual and Relational Wholeness in Christ guidebook by Andrew Comiskey.
Workshops on a variety of issues such as :
1. Effective prayer ministry
2. Understanding and praying for the healing of sexual abuse and sexual addiction
3. Releasing Living Waters into your churc
4. Understanding the Living Waters structure and format
Each participant will be involved throughout the week in a small group to receive personal support and healing prayer.
Training for Living Waters and CrossCurrent
Each person who participates in the Living Waters Training is considered to have been trained by Desert Stream Ministries for leadership involvement in Living Waters and/or CrossCurrent.
CrossCurrent
CrossCurrent is an introductory, 8-week group for those just beginning to deal with their sexual and relational brokenness. Usually presented as an open group, CrossCurrent is an ideal first step for churches not yet ready for an offering as weighty as Living Waters. It can also be geared toward non-Christians or nominal believers. CrossCurrent was developed by Andrew Comiskey. Participating in the Living Waters training equips people to lead CrossCurrent groups.
Training for other programs
We also pleased to offer training, during the week, for two other programs that are related to Living Waters, but are geared toward other populations.
Those desiring to run these programs must attend the entire training. Though specific instruction for these groups will occur on the last day of the training, we consider the whole week to be essential preparation for the running or any of these two programs. They are:
SALT (sexual addicts learning trust)
Salt is an effective 20-week program designed specifically for sexual addicts. Though similar to Living Waters in depth and format, salt focuses on the addict's need for well-structured accountability. salt also includes small group support for the spouses of sexual addicts. Pastor Craig Lockwood of the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Anaheim, CA, developed salt.
The River
The River is a l6-20 week adaptation of Living Waters that is designed exclusively for young people between the ages of 16 and 25. Developed by Desert Stream Ministries staff member Cathy Morrill, The River contains the essence of Living Waters but makes it relevant and dynamic for young people. Instruction for running this program will include different teaching and small group dynamics for this younger audience. Because those leading The River may work with minors, individuals who want to be trained for The River must submit a copy of a completed criminal background check. See your pastor or local social service agency regarding local procedures of securing the necessary background check.
